Pearls: The quality of pearls found in different places varied. The pearls found in Paraloka (now in Kerala), were white or yellow, mixed with gravel and uneven. Pearls from Swarashtra were just the right size and of the shade of butter. The Pearls found from the river Tamarparni (Tamil Nadu) had either a coppery hue or were white and lustrous. Pearls from Parasava (persian Gulf) are brilliant, white and very heavy. The Himalayan pearls were light, broken, large, dual coated and the colour of yoghurt. The Kaubera (not identified) pearls were uneven, black or white, light, brilliant and of large size.
